Who we are

Sustainability Maine LLC is a small business based in Portland, Maine, whose mission is to help Mainers increase their own efficiency and sustainability. Driven by an ethos of earning an honest dollar out of working to create benefit to both our customers and the environment, we fall back on a life time of knowledge gained through experience and a long-held passion for energy efficiency, renewable energy, technical innovation, sustainability and conservation.

Founded in 2024 by Portland resident Ronnie Simpson, Sustainability Maine LLC is a small business which specializes in energy efficiency and sustainability both on land and on the water. Our founder is an Iraq war veteran, entrepreneur and adventurer who has sailed more than 170,000 miles at sea, cycled about halfway around the world and lived off-grid utilizing renewable energy for more than a dozen years.

With a lifetime of experience participating in beach cleanups in Hawaii, California and Fiji, conducting marine debris research in the ‘Great Pacific Garbage Patch’, sailing the most remote waters on earth and working with solar, wind, hydro-power and battery backup in the marine industry, Simpson now calls Maine home and has begun a new chapter and with a new purpose.

Certified in Sustainable Business Strategy by the Harvard Business School and holding a BPI Building Analyst Professional certification, Ronnie has tacked towards a new career in home energy efficiency and sustainability in the year 2024. A graduate of Hawai’i Pacific University, Ronnie is excited to work with you on your energy efficiency and sustainability related projects, both on water and on land.
